Dear All

A belated happy new year from a wet and chilly Roma!

Here is the January update on the Reverberation project.

In May 2019, around 75 students from our DP1 cohort (Y12/11thGrade) will participate in a site specific performance and installation of the Reverberation project at St Paul’s Within the Walls church on Via Nazionale in Rome. We are planning to work with some of the asylum seekers who attend the nearby Joel Nafuma refugee centre, many of whom are talented musicians and artists.

This event will be the 10thedition of our annual ‘Creativity Day’ initiative. Each year the entire year group collaboratively explores an overarching theme through media and activities including music, dance and movement, creative writing and visual art. Previous themes have included ‘journeys’. ‘entropy’ and ‘reasons to be cheerful’. They have taken place in locations including the ruined Roman port city of Ostia Antica and the Palazzo Chigi at Formello.

This week SGBIS students will begin work on diverse aspects of this project in their Wednesday afternoon IB core/CAS sessions:

Check out these updates from Anton Hazewinkel and his busy students in Nanjing.

There is also a fascinating description of Virtual Reality environments currently being created for Reverberation by Darren and his students at Frankfurt International School.

Finally, Marina Kouroumali and her students in Athens have shared some of the mind maps and amazing sculptural work that they have been producing for Reverberation in response to their recent visit to CERN.
