International Sound Sculptures Project : Reverberation
(Sculptures as instruments of collaborative communication and creation)
Reverberation (noun)
1. a reverberating or being reverberated; a re-echoing or being re-echoed; reflection of light or sound waves, deflection of heat or flame, etc.
2. something reverberated; reechoed sound, reflected light, etc.
3. a far-reaching effect of some event or action
4. Physics: multiple reflection of sound waves in a confined area so that the sound persistsafter the source is cut off
5. Visual Art, Music, Performance, Science, Creative Writing & Poetry project, involving and linking artists, teachers, writers, performers, musicians, scientists and students in diverse locations around the world!
Phase 1:
- SGBIS in conjunction with Wellington College (October 2018 Festival of Creativity)
- SGBIS Y9 students and Y12 Visual Artists will produce individual and collaborative sculptures and installations in Autumn term 2018.
Phase 2:
- Working with other schools and centres across the academic year
- Italy chain – SGBIS (Rome), ISF (Florence), UWC Adriatic (Duino)
- Explore and develop existing School, IB and University links in Mexico, N.America, Greece, Malta, Canada, Holland, China, Australia, Florence and the UK
Phase 3:
- COBIS (open it up to other schools that we don’t yet have connections with)
- COBIS World Student Magazine
- Venice International University
- DragoLabs
- IB World Magazine
- TEDXTransmedia
- MAXXI
- IBAEM Conference (Vienna or Den Haag)
- Serenje (Zambian Orphanage)

- I have shared the project with students from UWC Mahindra College in India and UWC Adriatic in Italy (ex-SGBIS) both keen to participate and lead within their schools.
- Still trying to find a significant centenary within broadcasting to link the project to.
- Y12 IB Artists will have project included in their Autumn term POS
- Collaboration with Music, English, Science and Drama on recordings to emanate from sculptures and possible associated performances.
